Olympics Athletes at M2O
Yesterday was amazing! We had the good fortune of having two of Canada’s most amazing Olympic athletes in the studio.
First, Tom Velisek came down from Squamish for an in-studio interview. Tom is one of the best snowboardcross (SBX) riders in the world and one of only four men selected to represent Canada in the discipline at the 2006 Olympic Winter Games. SBX made its’ official Olympic debut in Torino, Italy and Velisek wants to be the first male SBX rider to win Olympic gold at the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Games.
Snowboardcross is wild – take snowboarding – cross it with downhill mountain bike racing and throw in an obstacle course.
In the afternoon, Denny Morrison - the 2008 World Champion Speed Skater came in for an interview. Denny is a longtrack ice speedskater from good old British Columbia. He’s currently working to fulfill his ultimate goal – winning Gold at the Vancouver 2010 Winter Games. Denny’s strongest distances are the 1000 meters and the 1500 meters.
Denny is the closest thing to a superhero as I’ve ever met. Simply amazing.
Two amazing athletes – two amazing stories. I’m really starting to look forward to 2010.
